About Us
The Second Smile Foundation Limited is a heartwarming charitable organisation founded in 2017 by dedicated dentists, Dr Ronald Chan and Dr Michelle Yu, with a mission to uplift the lives of individuals with limited access to dental care. Since our inception, we have built an enthusiastic team of dentists, nurses, volunteers, and partner organisations, all united in our goal to make a meaningful difference. A significant milestone was reached in 2024 when we proudly opened our own office and welcomed full-time staff, empowering us to reach even more people in need. This year, we also launched our website and social media channels, allowing us to engage more effectively with the community, raise awareness about oral health challenges, and connect with passionate supporters who share our vision for a brighter, healthier future. Together, we can create smiles that last a lifetime!
In 2016, we launched our first flagship programme, The Shining Smile Project, in collaboration with the Evangelical Lutheran Church Social Service – Hong Kong, which is dedicated to transforming lives by restoring severely damaged teeth for individuals overcoming drug dependency. This amazing initiative not only boosts oral health but also uplifts overall well-being. By enhancing both oral function and appearance, we're empowering these brave individuals to reintegrate into society and rediscover their self-confidence, while inspiring others on their recovery journeys. Thanks to the generous support of our corporate partners, who fund prosthetic work and vital equipment, we’re proud to offer comprehensive dental care. So far, the Shining Smile Project has successfully delivered over 500 dental treatments to those in need, helping them shine brighter every day!
At the heart of our mission is the unwavering belief that everyone deserves to smile! We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our volunteer services, specifically aimed at supporting underprivileged individuals, including young mothers and seniors, who often encounter financial and geographic hurdles to accessing dental care. We are dedicated to providing vital dental services to those with limited access, empowering them to reclaim their smiles, restore their dignity, and elevate their overall quality of life. By tackling the barriers that hinder timely dental treatment, we are making a meaningful difference.
We also prioritise long-term oral health practices, offering personalised dental education that equips underprivileged communities with the knowledge and confidence they need to take charge of their oral health. Through dynamic collaboration with dental professionals and corporate partners, we blend clinical care with education to create a lasting, positive impact in the lives of those we serve.
